Happy Halloween -- Tim Holtz October 2013 Tag

Yesterday my package finally arrived with new goodies by Tim Holtz. Yay! So I was finally able to sit down and make my October tag.

Here's my version (very similar).

I couldn't get the black distress glitter (they were on back order with alot of the colors!) I LOVE the distress glitter - alot more chunkier than regular glitter and a very vintage look. Love it! I ordered some more. :-)
The owl though is with regular glitter so you can kinda see the difference. It's Midnight Gold by Sparkle N Sprinkle. Love the look of it too.

I'm submitting this (of course) into:

Halloween is almost here. Can you believe it? I love this "holiday" with all it's fun and/or spookiness. Last night I actually sat down and worked on a journal page and this is what I came up with ....I'm not to keen on my hand writing with the acrylic paint but trial and error, right? (The paper clips are to hold the page down since it's still curling up a bit.)

I used acrylic paint (green is Neon Green), added translucent embossing paste for the moon to add texture and depth. The witch, moon, tree, and graveyard are Tim Holtz dies. Glimmer Mist Haunted Shadows for a night sky/stars effect. The witch is covered in Black Magic embossing powder (Sparkle N Sprinkle - my old Design Team), Skellies are Deadbeat Design.

I really like the look of the witch with the embossing powder. Looks better in person.

I embossed the tree after adding gesso and some acrylic paint and distress stain. Love the old, creepy look of it.

WOYWW #229

Well, another Wednesday has rolled around. So that means it's desk sharing time over at Julia's Stamping Ground. My desk really hasn't had much use since I've returned from vacation. I've been busy outside power washing the siding, the deck, the patio. Fun stuff!! I still have to stain the deck. And it's getting chilly out too.

Oh, and shortly after last week's post the gov't decided to put out a budget (at least through January) and re-open. So, possibly have to go through all this again.'s a look at my "old" desk which is supposed to be my Cuttlebug/Cricut/Sizzix/etc desk but piled with other stuff at the moment.

My art journal page from last week that I put to the side. I added some border with stamps and Stickles to the umbrella. A London Eyewitness Travel Guide. I love these guides. Lots and lots of info and color pictures and maps. It's great! A white wooden collage frame with 4X6 (6) slots for pics or whatever. Felt for some card ideas. And a travel brochure from a company I signed up with to go on a trip next year. And where will my travels take me?? I'm super excited ---- The Galapagos!!!! In July. I can't wait.

Here's a close up of the journal. the Stickles was added to the red dots on the umbrella. And thanks for all the compliments. I definitely am my own worst critic. :-) LOL.

One last thing to share -- i had bought Suzi Blu's Mixed Media Girls book 'cause the folksy "dolls" look sooo cute and I want to make  my own for cards and journals. Here's my first go at it one evening...

I'm not sure if my paper has lines too far apart but if I went with the spacing in the book this doll would be HUGE! So, will have to change it. A quick practice though. Need to keep at it.

I hope those in Australia are doing well with all those nasty fires blazing away. The pictures over Sydney Harbor look horrible. I remember living in Southern California and there were some nasty fires!

WOYWW? #228

I woke up and just double checked the news online. Yup, our glorious government is still shutdown. Wonderful. That means I am still going to work but won't receive a paycheck until all of this is over. :-/ But, I am grateful to still HAVE a job and EVENTUALLY I will be paid sooooo...enough of my sniveling. But that still doesn't make me very happy.

So. It's Wednesday. The sharing of the craft space or desk or whatever you happen to use to craft on day. My has hardly been used over the last month or so. It's been almost a week for me.

Ok, so I broke open my Dylusions Art Journal book and created a page. For London. That's supposed to be me with an umbrella in rainy ol' London. Which it wasn't. Ha!! I had excellent weather. So, it's a little bit of a joke. All the stencils, stamps, sprays, etc all over that I haven't cleaned up yet.

I feel like my pages are not nearly as gorgeous as others I see. I'm still playing around and such. Plus, I decided it's not done. I'm going to add some black doodles around the edges. We'll see.

Happy WOYWW!!

WOYWW #227 --- and London!!

Yay, it's October. The weather is a bit cooler, Halloween decorations are popping up, I love it. It's also Wednesday, which means it's share your craft desk over at Julia's Stamping Ground. I've been on vacation/holiday for a week and returned last Wednesday evening to a shutdown government and an uncertainty of when I'll be getting paid after this next partial paycheck (since I work for the government but am still required to work for an IOU!).

Anyway, not much has happened on my desk since returning from London. I quickly made a "Thank You" card for the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day blog hop. You can see the card I made in the post below. I just moved my craft sheet to the side and pulled out some paper and a stamp set and got to work. The large pink accordion folder on the left is what I take with on trips to place items from each day (postcards, papers, etc).

As far as my trip, it was wonderful. The weather is rainy, foggy London was in the mid 60's on average during the day. Cloudy but sunny during the day for the most part. I loved London and the bits outside of town that I saw!!

Windsor Castle Guards

and Buckingham Palace, of course!

Hope you enjoyed your "trip" to London. I have SO many more pictures but don't want to go overboard. I can't wait to work on my travel mini album/album. :-)

Happy World Card Making Day!

I've been participating with Operation Write Home this past year -- making cards for service members so they can use them to send birthday greetings, miss you, etc back home to loved ones and friends. Today, I am also playing along with their World Card Making Day Blog Hop via the link below.

Operation Write Home Blog Hop

The theme this year is a "Thank You" card based on one of their sketches. Here's the sketch I used:

And here is my card:

It was a quick card. I just got back into town after being overseas for a week. The pattern paper is Stampin' Up! Print Poetry stack. Sentiment is Flourishes Sentimental Favorites stamped with SU! Night of Navy. Brads are Stampin' Up Vintage Trinkets. I used TH Vintage Photo along the edges of pattern paper and sentiment paper.

Happy World Card Making Day!!
