WOYWW #217 -- Scrapbook Layout

I was up super early this morning, couldn't sleep. :-( That doesn't usually happen to me thank goodness!!! I was up at 5am. Well, I was tossing around for a half hour prior to that. And on my first day off too. What the...?!

Anyway, so today is Wednesday (and the last one in July too!!) and that means it's time to share our lovely craft desks over at Julia's Stamping Ground

So last weekend I pulled out my scrapbook stuff to work on my Munich trip I took back in December 2009. I swear, it took me forever to get a layout done. I really want to get at least one folder of pics done before I put it away again until who knows when. By "folder" I mean those 2 blue Creative Memories organizers near the center left side. Lots and lots of paper I collected for this album including Christmas paper because I went during the Christmas Markets. :-)

I am currently working on a place in Munich called the Residenz. It's a former palace of Bavarian Monarchs. The place is gorgeous inside. The layout on the left is from the "Green Gallery". Isn't it gorgeous?

The layout on the right are just various pictures. I'm really trying to pare down from ALL the pics I have. (Which is alot!!). A couple pictures include Relics. There was a room of these....apparently they are from 1590-1640. Little "altars" I guess with Saint's bones. Very strange need to look close but in the top part there is a skull.

I will heading out in a few hours to a local craft store for a Copics 101 class. I've used Copics before but want to learn more basics. I still need to practice more for blending, etc.

Happy WOYWW!!

Getaway - Tim Holtz July 2013 Tag

It is my "Saturday" and I'm up super early (can you say before 5am?!) and can't sleep. So, I'm up, drinking my coffee and on the 'net. Figured I'd try to catch up with some blogging. And, today is the last day to enter Tim Holtz's July tag.

So, since I don't really have any patriotic dies and it was late in the month, I decided to go with a "beachy" theme. Why not? It's summer and I enjoy the beach.

For the background, I used Weathered Wood and Broken Chine Distress Stains. The stamp is Memory Box Mail Definitions. (And uh, be careful to make sure it is right side up prior to stamping! LOL). In a couple corners I stamped some swirls by TPC Studio Sentiment and Corner Swirls. The sentiment is from same TPC Studio set, added brads and popped up with mounting tape. Vintage Photo Distress Ink was added around the edges.

The Palm Tree, shells, and wave are all Memory Box dies.

I probably could've used more Distress Crackle on the dies but you can still see the bit of crackling. Mudd Puddles Cabana Beach was added along the bottom of the tag.

The shell I collected on the beach and added Starfire glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle. The pin is by Stampin' Up. Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon with matching stains.

I'm submitting this to 12 tags of 2013 - July by Tim Holtz.

Put On Your Dancing Shoes

Gosh, so I feel like I haven't had hardly any time to craft and than I am behind on posting some cards. Summer is crazy at work...when the weather hits it makes for a crazy, long night. Last week was a looooong week for me. Tuckered out! This week the weather has been much nicer. :-)

Here's another card I made using an oldie but goodie stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle using the Dresses and Shoes stamp set.

The boot was stamped in Versamark and than I poured a mixture of Silver Lightning and Sangria Star embossing powder and Burgundy Glitz glitter over shoes and heat set. Added distress inks (Victorian Velvet, Milled Lavender, Antique Linen, and Seedless Preserves) over paper. The rest of the instructions can be found here

Have a great week!

Wednesday, July 24, 2013

Another Wednesday has rolled around. It's been a long week for me (today is my Saturday) with thunderstorms at work which create havoc and long 10 hour days! This summer is so strange - lots and lots of rain, cooler evenings than usual (it should be pretty hot by now and very humid), and winter like mornings with low ceilings. Very strange!

Anyway, since it is Wednesday, it means it's time to share my craft desk over at Julia's Stamping Ground.

This is as of last Thursday, the last time I sat down to work. I plan on getting up there today to finish some projects and hopefully work on my own too! There's Distress Inks, Copics, some Dahlia images I colored and need to be fussy cut. Not much to really talk about this week....

Remember my baby birds and the bird feeder I placed up on my Crepe Myrtle out front? Well, I have some new visitor's....

I knew I had something living under my step out front but only glimpsed it once. But, now I see this one and I'm guessing a baby rat/mouse scavenging for food as well. I have two empty lots next to my house and you can see the worn path in the grass where they've been traveling back and forth. Grr. I hate to kill anything but I don't want them damaging under the house or anything. :-(

I'll leave you with a pretty picture zinnia's on my back deck. Such a pretty color. More orange-y really than red.

Happy WOYWW!

P.S. I finally booked my London trip so will be there the end of September to explore all the great sites. :-) And maybe a stamp store.

WOYWW #215 -- Scrapbook Expo Haul

I can't believe I'm gonna get in on What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday super early. Crazy! Head over to Stamping Ground hosted by Julia to see what all the fuss is about.

Here's my desk...not a whole lot happening at the moment. I finished a kit I bought at a local stamp store using G45 paper. Printed out some images that I wanted to play with.

a close up of the box

So Friday I went to the Scrapbook Expo here in Atlanta, GA. Spent a good chunk of the day there shopping and catching up with one of my DT members from Sparkle N Sprinkle. Here's my haul...

uh, so, I went a little bit crazy it seems. LOL. I bought a bunch of Sizzix/Tim Holtz dies (starting at top right), a bunch of different brads (from halloween, summer, christmas, etc), sticker sheets, some paper, glitter, Viva Decor paints, gelatos, Spellbinder dies and other dies, embellishments. In the little blue bag near the top is actually some jewelry crafts. They're easy and fun. Beneath it is a sheet of images that you trim and a clear bauble with glue. It'll be fun to play with.

Than in the center are all the stamps. Some Our Daily Bread Design, Rubbernecker Stamps, Close To My Heart, and one or two other designers. Of course, one of the ODBD stamps I already had. I knew it too while I was there. The guy said I could exchange it at the next stamp show. We'll see. Maybe a give-away soon. :-)

Quick baby birdie update...

I finally noticed two left the nest. I came home Saturday night to find another dangling from the light fixture by one leg. Apparently it's claw was stuck within the twigs/poop of the nest. I had to pull it out but it's leg was too mangled. He disappeared the next morning. I have no idea what happened to him. :-(

But, the other 3 seem to be doing great. I see them out by the feeder.

I also see them bouncing around the front yard and sidewalk. So, they're doing great!

        They are just too cute!!

That's it for me...who is shockingly very early this week. LOL. Happy WOYWW!!

WOYWW #214

It's Wednesday. I remembered...LOL. And you are probably like, sooooo? Well, Wednesday is the day of the week where we share our craft spaces with other fellow crafty souls. All hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. Thanks Julia!

I cleaned up my desk yesterday (along with organizing the craft closet). I did play in my mixed media art journal but didn't quite like the way it turned out. So right now you see some new paper, ink, and ribbon from Stampin' Up!. Open H2O's from when I played in the journal. The plastic bag contains a Graphic 45 project that I want to start. And the see the little bird house hanging there in the top left corner? My mom used to make Lithuanina ornaments and this is one of her creations. So, I hung it up for me to see.

Here's the new storage cubbies....

All filled up with ribbon, stamps, embossing folders, etc. The painting at the top is one I made at a local paint class.

And remember my little bird eggs in my light fixture...well, they are growing and seem to be doing fine...

There still seem to be 4 of them in there. Just hanging out waiting for mom and dad to feed them.

Here you can see two of them. This is the front of the fixture. And oh the poop. Good golly!! There is literally a wall of poop on the back side where I've seen one lift it's butt and poop there. I'm going to have a fun time cleaning up poop!! Oh well, they are too cute.

So that's it...this Friday I am going to a Scrapbook Expo here in the Atlanta area. I'm sure  I will come home with lots of goodies. :-) And I hope to get to some crafting today or tomorrow.

Happy WOYWW!!

High Mileage....Low Maintenance

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July. We had rain, rain, rain here in the Atlanta area. We needed it, but now it's a bit too much.

Here's a nice manly card I made for Sparkle N's funny, I thought it was too "simple" but my sister thinks it looks great. Plus, a guy wouldn't want all sorts of froo-froo all over it anyway....LOL.

I used the Woody Station Wagon stamp and the Woody Word Set for my sentiment. The wagon was colored with Copics and some Sharpie Neon markers I found. The sentiment was stamped with Adirondack Earthtones Denim ink. I also used the same ink to swipe the edges of card.

I used Navy glitter on two different sizes of tear-iffic tape. The banner I cut myself.

WOYWW #213

For some reason, although I know it's Wednesday...I forget it's "Wednesday"...the day to share my crafty workspace with all you other crafty peeps out there. Of course, my sister has been in town. Actually, she just closed on a house last week. Seven doors down from me!! :-) People have asked if it's a good thing -- of course it is. I've been away from family for SO long, my parents are gone, so it'll be nice to be nearby.

Anyway, as I was sitting here watching a movie and scrolling through blogs I realized I, once again, forgot to share my desk. This "sharing" is hosted by Julia over at Stamping Ground

I think this is the first time y'all get to see my desk at night. I do have the bedroom light on along with my desk lamp. Pretty dark still. Ugh! I have a hard time staying creative at night. Last time I worked on my desk was last Wednesday actually. Some DT work.

My new storage shelves. I bought several pink/silver wired baskets at Target. Of course, I found two more that are now on clearance! So, I have my clear stamps in there. Ribbon are in the other pink pink/brown boxes. My cuttlebug is up there in the corner with embossing folders. And my Cinch is on top along with some stuffed toys. :-) The painting you see leaning up against the shelf is on I made at a local painting "class".

And I've been meaning to ask all you English gals -- what do you recommend I see going to London? I think I have my itinerary lined up but nothing has been booked yet. I'll be heading that way the end of September for about a week. I think I even found a craft/rubber stamp store in London. Thanks ahead of time!!

Happy WOYWW!! (with 14 minutes to spare...whew!)

Beach Birdhouse

Hello Everyone! Can you believe July is already upon us? Summer is in full force here in the South!! Love it...

So, since it is July, and the 1st of the month at is time for a new challenge at Sparkle N Sprinkle. This month the challenge is to make "Anything but a Card". I came up with a little beach house for the birds.

I had alot of fun pulling out all my "beachy" acrylic paints and adding fun colors to the roof and eave. After adding the color I stamped this starfish from the Tropical stamp set and embossed with Hit the Beach

I stamped the flip flops and Palm Hammock onto white tissue paper, colored with markers, and than fussy cut them out. I applied to the birdhouse with Mod Podge. I also added Starfire glitter along the top of the eave and along the outside of the "door".

The shells also have the Starfire and Cyclamen glitter added with SNS brushable glue. Around all the edges I dabbed on Tim Holtz Vintage Photo ink.

Along the bottom I hot glued some twine and than the shells in one corner. Sea Glass and Cabana Beach Mudd Puddles were laid out along the entire bottom of the birdhouse ledge.

Lastly, I found Mod Podge molds and mod melts to make the little bird which was painted and glued onto the house.

That's it for me....head over and check out the challenge for this month. If you use a SNS digital or rubber stamp with your project you will receive a FREE digital stamp just for playing along.

All the guidelines can be found on the challenge page as well and you have until July 31st, 2013 to enter. Have fun!!
