Air Mail

Can you believe tomorrow is May already?? Good Gosh, where does the time go?! It was just January wasn't it....

I almost forgot to post my Tim Holtz tag for this month. Yikes. I finally finished it last weekend. I should've used more of the Distress Paint onto my craft mat but oh well, that's how you learn right? I would've liked more of the blue on the background.

The airplane is from the Stamper's Anonymous Travel Blueprint set. Stamped onto tag and also onto acetate and fussy cut. The definition washi tape is from TH. The other is Air Mail washi tape (don't remember brand). Brads at top are from Recollections (a globe and airplane). The crinkle ribbon and gear and spinner are from TH. I also used a Gold Leafing pen around the edges. The colors are pretty much the same as the ones TH used this month.

I'll be submitting this to the TH 12 tags of 2013 April tag.

Mmm... Strawberries

Happy Weekend! My days off have changed so now my weekends are Wednesday and Thursday. For the rest of this year at least.

Strawberries are in season now. Yum! I remember living in California where there were fields of strawberries and you can buy them right there.

I found an idea on Pintrest for the Kraft part of this card. Mine turned out slightly different but still like the look of it. This card was made for Sparkle N Sprinkle using the Sweet Strawberries stamp set.

I embossed the Kraft CS with a wood grain folder and than cut into about 1/2' strips and wove them together. The strawberries were colored with Copics and than added Shimmer embossing powder with a Versamark pad and heat set. You can see the shimmery goodness here...

Bird's Nest

Hello! Well, I am in just one of those non-crafty moods but need to sit down and get some work done. Don't you hate that? I went out of town this weekend and came home with another bit of a cold. Or something. Been fighting it with tea, honey, water, Vitamin C...etc....ugh!!

Quick post so I can get on up to the craft room and see what I can get done.

I used the new Bird Song set from Sparkle N Sprinkle to make this card. I used a Stampin' Up Quilt embossing folder for the green background. Inked up the edges with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo) and than distressed. I used Distress Markers (Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, and Vintage Photo) to color in the bird's nest and the row of eggs. For the eggs though, I added the colors directly onto the stamp and then stamped onto Kraft paper. I added a bit of a sparkly border above the eggs with Peruvian Lily Velvet glitter. Full instructions can be found here

Birds Will Be Singing

Good Friday Morning! Weekend is almost here and a long one for me. Yay! Just have to make it through today. And than hurry home to clean, pack, get the dogs ready, etc...

Here's another card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle using their new stamp set Bird Song.

I stamped feathers on the yellow paper with Versamark and than heat set Firefly embossing powder over it. Very shimmery glossy look.  The birds were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I inked up the edges with DI - Mustard See and Antique Linen. I also took some smaller feathers and stamped lightly with Mustard Seed behind the birds. Added gold ribbon for a border and that's it. Easy peasy!!

Have a great weekend!!

WOYWW #202

It's Wednesday....time to take a peek and see what craftiness is taking place behind the scenes of sorts....head over to Stamping Ground where Julia is the hostess who puts on this gig every week, even when on vacay. :-)

My desk is a mess. Still! Haven't done much with it, cleaning up wise that is...

I had to turn the light on since it was still a bit dark this time of morning on this side of the house. As you can see, a mess. Got the Copics out for coloring. I am still such a newbie at it. I really want to learn the basics. Also have watercolor pencils sitting out.

I purchased from several online stores last Sunday (a week and a half ago). It's amazing how most of the places I got my items within days. One I got on Monday. And Simon Says Stamps, as usual, seems soooooo slow. They sent my items on the 10th and am still waiting.

Here's some of the online purchases:

I bought some paper so I can start on a travel journal (my first!) from my trip to Nashville TN several years ago. Some TH stamps which will be used on the tag for April. A border punch. I also bought some TH distress paint, hmm, what else....other stamps from Lost Coast Designs...and I can't think of what else at the moment.

At Hobby Lobby however, I got me The Cinch....at 40% off. :-) Still in the box and waiting to be used for the first time. Can't wait....I've seen so many cool ideas online for travel journals. So excited to get into this project.

A couple more pics and I'll be done....a few weeks ago I shared a pic of a cardinal (male). I'm guessing this is the female. Maybe not...I think the beak is too long. Anyway, there were two sitting in this tree or whatever it is and this one stayed put. I took the picture from my kitchen window. Zoomed way in!

And a squirrel sitting in a tree just outside my yard.

Here's a reference for you...not quite this green yet, but getting there. The bird was just on the other side of the yard in front of the pine.

Ok, that's it from me....have a great week. I'll be heading to Asheville NC to visit my friends over my birthday weekend. Well, Monday is my b-day but I'm off Sat-Tuesday. (Including one furlough day. Yup, all that talk on the news about furloughs....it's really happening.)

Blue Feathers

Good Morning. Sunday morning here, the start to my weekend. Lots to do before I go out of town next weekend to visit my besties for my birthday. Can't wait! I also have a couple new followers over the past week or so. I want to say thank you for following me. :-)

I've made another card for Sparkle N Sprinkle with their new stamp set, Bird Song.

I stamped the flowers on the blue background with Versamark and then heat embossed with SNS Bracing Blue embossing powder. I stamped the birds, sentiment, and feathers onto Kraft cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. Added some Misty Blue and Florida Beach glitters to the feathers that were fussy cut. You can see full instructions and products used here.

Silhouette Flowers

Happy Friday! I have one more day of work and than my weekend starts. I swear, one day the trees are bare and it seems like overnight everything is green again. I love spring. (Just not the washing away of all the pollen over everything out here!!)

Here's another card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle using the new Silhouettes stamp set...

I stamped the birds and flowers with Versamark ink onto glossy paper and then heat set with Black Detail embossing powder. I used a brayer and Kaleidacolor Berry Blaze to add color to the card. Than stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and embossed with the Black Detail embossing powder. Lastly, added black ribbon with a bow along the bottom.

WOYWW #201

Wednesday here again. That means it is time to take a snoop at crafty desks across the globe....all hosted by Julia at Stamping Ground. She's celebrating 4 years of this crafty snoop this year!! :-) Come join the fun....

Ok, everyone, brace yourselves for what you are about to witness....

Are you still with me?! LOL. My desk is a MESS this week. See that teeny tiny area in the center by the mat? That's what my workspace got down to...sheesh. I was making sample cards as part of my DT duties. I also started making ATC's a couple weeks ago. Joined some Yahoo Groups. Here's some samples:

This ATC was part of a Butterfly Swap.

This ATC is for a Suffragettes Swap. Love history so was perfect.

And this one was for a Winner Takes All (WTA) sign-up.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week. Spring is definitely here to stay in Georgia. It is in the low 80's now....(when will it be winter again, hahahaha. Just kidding. I'd rather be warm than cold.)

Sunset Silhouette

Happy Monday! Well, the weather is finally cooperating and seems to be warming up for good. And of course, I start feeling yucky. Been fighting a cold since Saturday. Popping Vitamin C, got rest Saturday night, tea. So we'll see. I'm even making my own chicken broth right now to freeze for later. And there's still loads to do around the house and outside.

But, onto crafting....here's a card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle using their new Silhouettes stamp set. This is such a pretty set, love it!!

I used alcohol inks (latte, lettuce, sunset orange, and sunshine yellow) to create the background. A wood grain embossing folder for the Kraft cardstock. The image was stamped with Versamark ink and embossed with Fiery Brown embossing powder. A strip of burlap was added behind the image. I love the way the alcohol inks turned out for the sky.

Have a great week!!

Live in the Sunshine....

If you are here for the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop, click here.

I had made this card for the Create A Scene blog which had a beach/shoreline theme last month but forgot to post it. LOL. Ah well...I love the card anyway and anything to do with the beach. :-)

The stamps are all from Flourishes - Beach Life set. I used watercolor pencils to color everything in. Added Distress Ink - Antique Linen around the edges. Some Cabana Beach Mudd Puddles was added along the bottom for sand. I also added Misty Blue and Easy Green glitter by Sparkle N Sprinkle around the water edge and palm tree leaves.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Sparkle N Sprinkle April Blog Hop ~~Anything But A Card

Welcome to Sparkle N Sprinkle's April Blog Hop! If you hopped over here by way of Anne than you are in the right place. Otherwise, you may want to start at the beginning to be eligible for the prizes.

So Easter has come and gone already. Most everyone seems to be on Spring Break. And Spring is definitely making its presence known! Yay! I love spring with all the new blooms, leaves sprouting, so pretty.

This month's theme is Anything But a Card...for this hop I made a tag. Seems like tags are "in" right now so I thought I would create a nice spring themed one.

I used a #8 size craft tag. Painted a layer of white gesso over the tag. Than blended distress inks over that. Embossed some flower stamps and small leaves. Used bubble wrap to add more texture onto the tag. The large flower was stamped on vellum. For complete instructions and products used, click here

(close-up of the tag)

Here you can really see the shine from the embossing powders.

This blog hop will run from April 4-7 so plenty of time to get through all of the Design Team's blogs. Make sure to leave a comment on everyone's posts to be eligible to win some great prizes. Three of which are "hidden" on various blogs, even we don't know which  one it is. Next up is Karin

Have Fun!!

Friendship is the Greatest Gift

Good Morning and Happy April 1st. I'll be posting this blog, taking the dogs out for a walk on this fine morning and hopefully I won't get a bad "trick" from my CPA when I find out about my taxes. I know I don't have to pay -- but am waiting to find out how much I'll get back from the short sale of my condo. Fingers crossed it'll be a good one!!!

Anyhow, since today IS the first of the month, that means it's time for another challenge at Sparkle N Sprinkle's Creative Challenge blog. April's challenge is to use a digi stamp. You can use any digi you'd like, but if you use one of the SNS digi's or ribber stamps you'll get a free digi just for playing. If you go to their challenge blog you'll see the free digi that's available.

This month we are featuring digi's by Michelle Perkett. Here's my card...

The base of the card is made from Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles. The background paper is from First Edition: Blank Canvas 6X6 paper pad. The image was colored with Copics. You can find full instructions here.

You have all month to submit an entry for this challenge....there are other goodies to be won besides the free digi so be sure to check out the blog
