WOYWW #191

Well, should be getting some thunderstorms later today and the temps are in the 70's. But not for long...back to the 50's again Thursday. I can't wait for spring!!

WOYWW, you ask? The lovely Julia at Stamping Ground hosts What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday? every week where we all get to take a snoop at desks, workspaces, etc and see what everyone is up too...

Here's my desk this week...last touched on Monday.

Some may not have seen a previous post, but I purchased a second desk and installed some shelves and a pegboard so I have moved over to this new workspace. The other one is still there, just to the right in the picture. Messy desk from making some cards. H20 jars open from use and was letting them dry. Stamp drawer all open. Alcohol inks out too.

I managed to get a few cards done this weekend. I also went to my monthly Stampin' Up club on Monday morning and got 3 cards done there and placed an order of course. AND, this weekend I am going to a Rubber Stamp show on Saturday. Have never been to a stamp show so excited to see what they will have there....

That's it for me...have a crafty week!!!

Cafe Au Lait

Bonjour!! Hello!! Hope the start of everyone's week is going well. It's actually the end of mine as I go back tomorrow evening. And the weather is koo-koo!! Tomorrow is forecasted to be 83, Wednesday 71 with thunderstorms, and back to 54 on Thursday. Boy oh boy!

I made this card for the Penny Black January Challenge which is January Blues which wanted blue tones used on the card.

So, the stamp set is Mimi in Paris by Penny Black. The Eiffel Tower is embossed with some old EP I had, Judi-Kins Aegean Silver. It's great in person, not only is it silver but it has flecks of blue. Mimi is popped up from the card. I used flocking powder on her hat (I should've colored the hat too, oh well). I also added Lt Blue Pearl Pen dots on her dress for buttons. I used Spellbinders Squares for the dark background and white too. Before popping out the white one (which was a royal pain!!) I daubed Weathered Wood and Iced Spruce distress inks, and Paris Dusk Memento ink for the background to create a night sky. Added some rhinestones to each corner.

Does anyone else have problems popping these intricate dies out of the actual die?? I just bought new plates for my Cuttlebug but it seems like it still takes a whole lot of times to run through it for it to cut completely (which I believe makes it really jammed into the die).

**Also....while reading Katie's blog, I saw a post for Pay It Forward. I was able to sign up on her blog and here's the details (which I am copying form her) if you would like to definitely sounds like a fun, nice thing to do...

The first 5 people to comment with their email will receive a surprise gift from me sometime during 2013! There will likely be no warning, it will happen when the mood strikes me. We all deserve a little something special every now and then and I would love to PAY IT FORWARD and spread the love!

There is only one catch: If you are among the first 5 to comment below, you must make the same offer on your blog or FB status (if you don't have a blog). Let's keep it moving friends!

So, there it is... :-)

Irish Blessing

Happy Saturday! It's finally my weekend. Yay!! Dogs are enjoying hanging out outside since it's a beautiful winter day.

Here's a couple cards I made for Operation Write Home (OWH). Last weeks mid week throwdown was Show Us Your Green so I made a couple St. Patrick's Day cards.

The stamp is by Prickly Pear and colored with Copics. The sentiment (with matching blessing inside of card) is by My Sentiments Exactly!, Background paper is by Recollections Portobello Road 12X12 paper pack. I added some rhinestones in the center of each clover. And Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two.

The clover stamp is by Stampabilities "Scribble Shamrock" and just stammped across CS. Sentiment is by My Sentiments Exactly!. The leprechaun is by Inkadinkado and colored with Copics. I added some Silver glitter glue to the buckle on the hat and shoes. He's popped up too.

Have a great weekend!!

Hello All. Well, it's my Wednesday today. And for some reason my lower back is bothering me. :-('s a couple cards I made for a sketch challenge at OWH (Operation Write Home). This is their sketch...

And here's my first card...

The stamps used are from the Sparkle N Sprinkle Vintage Boutique set. I embossed the dress form in Cherry embossing powder also from SNS. The paper is from My Mind's Eye 6X6 pad, Quilting Bee. Added some metal sticker brads along the bottom.

And the second card....

Same sketch, as you can see. I used the same SNS Vintage Boutique stamp set. The dress form was embossed Black Detail embossing powder. Added black rhinestones along the bottom. The paper is also from My Mind's Eye - Quilting Bee.

This card I made for my Godson who is turning 2 on Saturday...

The little cars are from Hero Arts. They are popped up with mounting tape and pop dots. I cut a piece of black CS and small bits of yellow CS for the "road". Added yellow Stickles to the yellow CS. Inkspirational Challenge -- CASE

What a pretty day today here in the South. Temp was about 60 degrees F and sunny. Got my pedicure...all is good. :-)

Here's a card I made for the Inkspirational CASE challenge and also for Sparkle N Sprinkle. Here's the Inkspiration card...

And here's my twist....

I still have a hard time with some CASE challenges. Sometimes I think they are too it needs more. I'm working on it I guess... :-)

Anyway...the flowers are from the Sparkle N Sprinkle Dark Tulip set but can still be purchased individually. I used Orange Marmalade and By the Lake embossing powders over the flowers. There's a bit in the middle where I accidently mixed the two colors on my coffee filter so I added it on the the way it turned out. The sentiment and the flower in the corner are also from the Dark Tulip set.

I'm entering this card in the following challenge:

I worked on a card for a couple challenges, one of which is a sketch challenge.

Here's the sketch...

Here's my card....

I used the Sparkle N Sprinkle Blossoms set for the flowers and petals. They were stamped in Brilliance Twilight and Memento New Sprout. The sentiment is from the Flourishes Sentimental Favorites set.

January 2013 Tim Holtz Tag

This year I decided to jump on the Tim Holtz Tag challenge that goes on every month. Here's Tim's January 2013 tag...

Here's my version....

I used Stamper's Anonymous - Life's Possibilites - for the sentiment and the numbers. Clock embossing folder used on tag. Ripe Persimmon, Weathered Wood, and Vintage Photo distress inks. Sizzix gears die painted with Tarnished Brass and Brushed Pewter distress metallic stains. Tim Holtz Sprocket Gears over the dies, Idea-ology film strip ribbon. I distressed the edges of the sentiment and the tags. The tag is popped up.

Now I am off to my craft room on this Sunday afternoon. NFC championship game will be on later....Go Falcons!! (My Chicago Bears are out of it this year so I guess I will root for my new "home" town.)

Sparkle N Sprinkle Fancy Fold Blog Hop

Hope everyone is having a great week. Most everyone's weekend is almost here...mine will start Saturday afternoon (after a 6 day work week, ugh!). And I'll be getting a massage.....ahhhhhh!! Can't wait.

I want to welcome everyone to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Fancy Fold Blog Hop. (Fancy Fold = anything other than a "normal" card.) This blog hop will run for FOUR days. That's right- you'll have plenty of time to check out all the great creations by the SNS Design Team.

If you've arrived from their blog than you are in the right place. If not, I would start there to make sure you have all the details for this hop. There are 3 prizes hidden on 3 different mystery designer blogs so make sure you leave a comment on everyone's blogs. Winners will be announced on January 21st on the SNS blog so make sure you check back there to see if you won.

Now grab yourself a tasty beverage/snack and let's go....

My "fancy fold" is a Tri-Shutter card. This was my first time making this fold and it was pretty easy. I followed the instructions from a Split Coast Stampers  video. There's also a great tutorial on the Sparkle N Sprinkle Tips & Techniques section. So, for the base of the card you can go to either site. However, there is a slight difference in the center part of the card between the two. (Mine doesn't have the 6" score that the SNS site makes.)

For the front center part of the card, use a piece of Super Adhesive sheet approximately 2 1/2" by slightly less than 4". Remove protective layer and sprinkle Reflection Velvet Glitter all over and burnish into sheet. Stamp sentiment/hearts, which I used from the Happy Hearts stamp set, with Versamark and emboss with Cherry embossing powder. Cut a piece of red CS 1/8" smaller than glitter sheet and the embossed CS about 1/16" smaller.

Adhere all pieces together and add to front of card. Trim two different pieces of pattern paper (I used Echo Park - Yours Truly) and adhere to inside center and far right side of card.

Next, stamp square sentiments onto white CS with Versamark and emboss with Cherry and Black Detail embossing powder. Trim to 1 1/4" by 1 1/4". Cut two pieces of black CS and one piece of red CS 1/16" bigger. Adhere to embossed pieces and than to far right side of card.

Punch a heart from Super Adhesive sheet and sprinkle with Fire Engine Red glitter. Press down to make sure glitter sticks well. Punch another heart from white CS. Adhere white CS slightly off center from red/glitter heart and right, center of card with pop dots.

For remaining sections of the card, cut red CS 1/16" smaller than each section. Trim pattern paper 1/16" smaller than red CS. Adhere all pieces to card except the bottom center (with ribbon).

Adhere black ribbon and bow to bottom, center section and than add to card.

Punch five small hearts from super adhesive sheet and add Reflection and Fire Engine Red glitters to hearts. Add 3 hearts to top section of card and 2 to lower section (with ribbon) with pop dots.

Here's another view with the card completely opened....

Remember to leave a comment to be eligible for a prize from Sparkle N Sprinkle. Thanks for stopping by....hope you enjoyed your up is Karalee

WOYWW? #189

Hello Folks! Well, another Wednesday has rolled around and it's time to share our workdesks....the wonderful Ms. Julia at Stamping Ground hosts this weekly event and there are lots of play areas to peek at....

So last week I posted a empty wall space and said I was getting a new desk and putting up some shelves, etc on my wall. Well, I managed to get it all done this weekend. Yay me!!! :-)

This is a long shot from the door. I have two of the same desks now. The 3 shelves and pegboard is what I added to the wall and put together the new desk.

A bit closer view of the new work area. I tried it out Sunday night and kinda like it. I put my Cuttlebug on the other desk and just rolled my chair over there when I needed it. It was nice not to have to put it on the desk, take it off. I need more hangie things for the peg board. I bought those baskets on Amazon and still trying to figure out what to put in the large one. It'll all come together...

And a close up of my desk...I worked on a card this weekend for a was a card shaped like a house and came out quite cute! You can see it here

Well, that's it for me this week. Off to enjoy my morning coffee, play some Zynga games, check out some blogs and than it's time for work.

Happy Wednesday!!

Home Sweet Home

It's Monday! It's gloomy...but it is warm out. I guess that's a plus right?! Yesterday I finished up with some additions to my craft room. There will be pictures up on Wednesday if anyone is interested.

Well, we are 1 month away from the next "Holiday"....Valentine's Day.

Here's a cute card I made last night....

It's a house card. I used a border die from IO for the shingles on the house. The door and windows are also from IO with some Echo Park -- Yours Truly paper on the inside of the windows. The fence is IO and the grass behind it is MFT. I used a pine punch for the bushes and added Flower Soft Ruby. It has a bit of sparkle to it.

Punched out a small heart punch, ran it through the Xyron and added some Recollections Cherry glitter. Than used some Antique Linen Distress Ink around the house and Crystal Lacquer on the windows.

I am entering this card in the following challenge:

80th Birthday!!

Sunday night and it is still in the high 60''s been in the mid 70's all weekend. How crazy!! But, I am still savoring it while it lasts. Yes indeedy!!

My aunt turned 80 on January 4th. So, I made her a card.....

I cut the 80 from Cricut's Alphalicious at 3". I tried to emboss with a sparkly white embossing powder but didn't like the effect so added Diamond Stickles all over the numbers. Paper is from The Paper Studio. The first die is  Spellbinders Rectangles (NEW). The top die is Floral Ovals. They are both popped up with mounting tape. I also added Pearls from Recollections around the top die and in the corners of the bottom die. The 80 is also popped up.

Here's a close up....

I am submitting this card to the following challenge:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Happy New...(can be anything new)

Bee Mine

Hello...almost the end of the first full work week in January. This weekend I am going to a card making class. I believe it features Graphic 45 paper. Can't wait.

Here's a card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle....

I love the hearts from this embossing folder. Too cute. The Bee Mine image is from the Happy Hearts stamp set. It was embossed with Black Detail embossing powder. Spellbinders Labels Eight was used to die cut the image and backdrop. Along the red background I added Tomato Red Tinsel Glitter. Here's a close up...

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #188

Another Wednesday is here...and I'm sure we're all back to the normal routine after the Holidays...or trying to be. :-) My bronchitis is FINALLY better. Last Thursday night I broke down and took Nyquil and slept so good.

So onto my post...I have nothing much to share on my desk this week. It's all tidied up. And why am I sharing by the way? Because Ms. Julia at Stamping Ground hosts this snoop around craft spaces. That's why... :-)

The basket on the right side contains Valentine stuff. There's some Penny Black stamps on the bottom left that I have out for a challenge. Otherwise, I cleaned it all up. I actually vacuumed the floor. Everything is all picked up off the floor too.

This year I am REALLY going to organize my craft room. I have another desk like you see on order and should be delivered today. I also bought a pegboard at the hardware store along with some hooks and whatnot that I bought. And some shelves too. So that will be my project coming up...I'll have the desk along the wall and plan on moving my main desk to that space now. This way I'll have room to put my sewing machine in a permanent spot and room for other crafts too. :-)

That's it for me...i'll keep you posted on the "new" room.

Classy and Sassy

Happy Monday! Or it is the beginning of the work week and some might be going back to work for the first time since the Holidays. :-)

Here's a card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle. This is such a cute set...

The stamps are from the set Vintage Boutique. I used Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles for black background. All images were embossed with Black Detail embossing powder. For the center background, sentiment and flowers...I used glossy paper and swiped it around in Raspberry and Lettuce alcohol inks. The mannequin is popped up with mounting tape along with some of the flowers and the green background. Black rhinestones were added along the outer edge of lattice background.

I'm entering this card in the following challenge:

Inkspirational - Color challenge (Black, Kiwi, Dk. Pink)

As always, thanks for stopping by and having a look....have a great week!!

Thank You

I am so happy -- I am getting better and better over the last few days. Yay! Not sure how long this cough will stay with me from what others have mentioned -- but at least I am feeling myself and have energy to get things done.

My friends had made me a gorgeous sign post as a non-Christmas gift. :-) I love it!!

I made them this Thank You card...

Green C/S is Stampin' Up Lucky Limeade. Embossed background with Stampendous Elegant Borders in clear powder. Applied Mustard Seed, Peeled Paint, Faded Jeans, and Old Paper distress inks onto background. Distressed the edges. The sentiment is by Stampabilities and embossed with Butterscotch by Sparkle N Sprinkle. Rhinestones by Recollections.

Have a great Sunday!! Fortunately I am still off until Tuesday...time yet to get house in order before returning to work. I've been out sick since Christmas!! And a whole week off prior to that on regular vacation.
