Ridin' Down the Highway...

Gosh, only two more days left in the year....where does the time fly?! I just wish this cold I have would go away...and quickly. I haven't had a good night's rest in almost a week. Ugh!

I made this card the week before Christmas. I was heading to North Carolina to visit friends and celebrate my BFF's husband's 40th Birthday. He's a big Harley-Davidson guy.....

The stamp is from Viva Las Vegas and colored with Copics. Spellbinders Labels Eight in 3 sizes. Sentiment is from TPC Studios. Added some black/silver blingy ribbon. Background is silver, can't really tell from this picture.

Cupcake Celebration

Hello All!! I have been MIA from blogger world for just a wee bit. Weekends off have been busy all month with decorating, Christmas shopping, getting other projects completed, and I was out of town for several days through Christmas. Of course, for Christmas I did get a most joyous present. A cold! Mmm-hmm. Started coming down on the Holiday, and after driving home (4 hours) that evening my body felt it! Have been home sick since except for a few hours when I attempted to go in to work -- Big Mistake. So, here I am -- still getting over this nasty bug.

Before the trip though I did finish this card for my sister's birthday which falls the day after Christmas.

This is my first My Favorite Things image -- Hello Cupcake. She's so cute. I colored her with Copics and paper pieced her dress. Background and dress paper are My Mind's Eye (Honey Cake). Spellbinders Lacey Ovals to frame the image. Stickles Fruit Punch dots around inner oval. IO die along bottom of background. Cerise glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle on the heart in her hair. 3D Crystal Lacquer on the cherry. Stickles Diamond on the icing. Sentiment is TPC Studios -- Greetings.

Christmas Sparkle

Happy Weekend Everyone! I'm not sure if this year I will have met my goal of making ALL my Christmas cards but I am pretty close. Better than last year so there's improvement. :-)

Here's a really simple card....

The scene is taken from a paper napkin. You need to only use the very top ply so make sure you separate ALL the bottom layers from the top layer. (Tip: use  2 pieces of double stick tape and place one on a top layer corner and the other on the bottom of the same corner and it ta-da, it separate's pretty easy.) Than add napkin onto a piece of double stick tape sheet. Place another tape sheet over top. I used Glitter Ritz transparent micro-fine glitter to spread over entire image, you want to really smooth it in there with your finger. Soft, smooth finish! Than I just added a red glittery background paper. That's it!! Super simple.

What's on your Workdesk? Wednesday #183

Good Morning! Well, it's into December already here but the first few days here in the South sure doesn't feel like it. It's been in the low 70's.

I've been missing from WOYWW the last couple weeks. Just not enough time in the morning to get a blog out and too tired the night before. So here I am. What, may you ask is this all about? It's a chance for all us crafter's to have a little snoop and see what our desks or workspaces are up to (or not!). :-) And it's hosted by the great Ms. Julia at Stamping Ground

My workspace this weekend is actually my floor. I bought a bunch of picks at Hobby Lobby to make a couple Christmas arrangements. On the left side are leftovers for a gold/red arrangement. And on the right side are ones for a pink/silver that I still need to make. And on the far right is all my paper mess from my usual card-making/scrapbooking hobby. Here's the one arrangement I made sitting in my kitchen....

So that's it for me...not a whole lot going on. Off I go for the short morning I have before it's time to get ready for work this evening. Tomorrow we are having a Holiday potluck lunch so will have to stop at store this evening and pick something up. No time to make anything, it'll just be a heat and serve kind of thing. That's what happens when you work crazy hours.

Happy WOYWW!

Got Snow?

Well, I certainly don't have any snow. Here in Georgia it's been in the 70's this week. Nice. Have my Christmas decor up, all that is left is a tree.

Cute rustic looking card with a snowman from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Christmas Flamingo stamp set. I used Copics to color the image and added yellow glitter on the scarf and red fun flock on the red parts of hat and scarf. There's some Starfire glitter (SNS) along the snow line as well as Marvy white liquid applique that was puffed up with a heat gun. I used Spellbinders Lacey Ovals for the image and red background. The patterened paper is Recollections Holly Day wishes pack. Added ribbon and some rustic bells.

Here's wishing for a white winter...or am I? Hmm...I am enjoying this warmer weather. :-)

Pink Christmas

I have some of my Christmas decorations up. Still have to get a tree, add some other lights, decorations, etc. The weather here has been so nice. Today was around 70. I actually went out in flip flops. :-)

Here's a more wintry card though using one of my favorite colors.

I saw a card online that someone made using this PSX stamp and found and won it on ebay! :-) Yay me. I used Rouge chalk ink. Added some Sparkle N Sprinkle Crystal Ice glitter and than mixed up Crystal Ice and Bubblegum glitter (also from SNS) that I added to the rooflines and snow. You can kinda see the glitter in this pic...

Background paper is MME "Winter". The bottom pink border is a die from Impression Obsession. The frame around the stamped image is Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Five. Ribbon I bought at either Michael's or Hobby Lobby.

Happy Holidays!!

You're Fantastic

Thanksgiving has come and gone. Now it's officially Christmas. I actually braved the craft stores and went out to Michael's and Hobby Lobby today. But that's about it....I don't want to deal with any other crowds.

The stamps for this card are from Sparkle N Sprinkle's Japanese Lady stamp set. The sentiment can be purchased separately or part of the set. I used alcohol inks on glossy paper to create the red/gold background. I added some gold mixative but you can't really see it in the picture. Stamped flower with Versamark and embossed with Hit the Beach embossing powder. I used Halo embossing powder on the sentiment. Adhered some gold mesh ribbon with Ultimate Glue.

Deepest Sympathy

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday here in the States. Who has actually braved the stores and is or has already gone shopping? Not I. No thank you.

I found out last weekend that my Great Uncle passed away. While I still lived in California, my mom stayed out there taking care of him. So, once a month I would drive up for a visit to see my mom and would see him and sometimes his family too. He was 102 years old when he passed.

I used a new background stamp I purchased recently by Penny Black (Paisley). Clear embossed with Versamark ink. Than used Distress Inks (Faded Jeans, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, and Old Paper) over the entire image. Used a Creative Memories corner punch, Spellbinders Labels Eight die for the sentiment which is from K Andrew Designs and some sheer blue ribbon.

Purple Kimono

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. For those that celebrate I'd like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you'll enjoy time with friends/family. And a big welcome to some new followers. I appreciate it. :-)

I love the way this card turned out. Especially the blingy ribbon along the edge. I chose the colors based on traditional colors that Geisha's typically wear, depending on the month. January is sprout green and deep purple.

All stamps are from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I created the background using water stamping technique. The flower stamp is part of the Japanese Lady stamp set.  I used alcohol inks on glossy paper and just swiped the color in a downward motion. Stamped Fan Kimono image with Versamark and used Amethyst Spray embossing powder. I was experimenting with colors and combined Lettuce and Purple Twilight alcohol inks. Thought it was a bit too dark for background but used it to stamp the Kimono again with versamark and used Halo embossing powder just around the circle and cut. The sentiment was embossed with the Amethyst Spray embossing powder. Used purple CS for background and as a border around sentiment. Used mounting tape to add kimono to card. And added wired ribbon along the edge of the background.

Asian Flowers

It's amazing how quickly time flies....Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Wow. I almost forgot to send out my Thanksgiving cards too. LOL.

I have another stamp from an Asian set to show you from Sparkle N Sprinkle.

This double flower stamp is from the Japanese Lady stamp set. I used a Triple Time stamping technique. There is also a different look to this card on the SNS Tips & Techniques site. I used Ranger Distress Markers in Forest Moss, Fired Brick, and Dusty Concord directly onto the stamp and than spritzed with some water. I repeated adding color and spritzing each time I stamped the image. (Make sure you leave room for the sentiment, or stamp it first.) Once I got the darker coverage I wanted I went back and just added lighter colored images in the blank spaces. The Birthday Wishes sentiment is from the Cupcake Happiness Set. I really like the look of the Distress Markers. First time I really used them.

Over at Sparkle N Sprinkle this month they have a 15% off sale on all AsianDecorative ElementsMedallions, and featured artist Andrea Roberts

Japanese Geisha

Hello. Today I have an Asian themed card. I am not one to gravitate towards this particular theme but actually had alot of fun making it.

Over at Sparkle N Sprinkle this month they have a 15% off sale on all Asian, Decorative Elements, Medallions, and featured artist Andrea Roberts

For this card, I used Japanese Lady stamp. I also used a little bit of Florida Beach glitter at the end of the hair pins and dangling bits from her flower. I paper pieced some pattern paper for her robe and used Copics on the flowers and face. Stamped image is placed on a Spellbinders Floral Ovals die. The pattern paper is from Echo Park "For The Record" 6X6 pad. Added sheer gold ribbon down the back center along with a bow at the bottom. I used mounting tape to place the floral die onto the card for added dimension.

I recently bought a Bow Easy to make my bows. Love it!!! Here's a little video to see how it's used in case you never heard of it. :-)

WOYWW? #180

Another Wednesday fast approaching and it's time for that weekly snoop at crafter's desks around the globe. What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday is hosted by the wonderful Ms. Julia over at Stamping Ground.

I'll make this quick since I've just recently returned from work and have a short morning before work beckons again.

For those who saw my desk the last couple weeks it was a mess. I swear, I cleaned it off on Saturday. Even wiped it down with cleaner! Moved the Cricut over to the shelf since I don't use it a whole lot. This weekend was working on some cards for my DT duties. Also playing with some other stuff, like my Dylusion inks. Used my alcohol inks for some projects and even took a stab at paper piecing. It was so much fun!! I also tried my Dreamweaver stencil on some sheets of sticky paper with Velvet Glitter (micro-fine).

On a side note, I was walking the dogs the other day and found $280 along the side of the road. A bunch of bills just scattered across the road. I'll hang on to it for a bit, but will be giving the money to a friend who is going through some tough times right now. I feel too guilty keeping it!!

Happy WOYWW!!

Silver Snowflake

Back in July I went to the Scrapbook Expo and came across a company I had never heard of...Heartfelt Creations. I bought several stamps for Christmas, etc. Here's my first shot at this Christmas one....

I used the Snowflake Medallion set. This is one of the largest stamps. A little bigger than I expected. I also bought the matching Holly Ornament Spellbinders die. Each flake has silver embossing powder so it is sparkly but you can't really tell in the picture. The center bling is from Spare Parts and the background paper is Bella Road. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I popped up the snowflake with dimensional dots.

Autumn Leaves

It's well into Autumn here and the colors on the trees are just beautiful. I just love this season and am so glad to be living somewhere again where you can enjoy all the beautiful foliage.

Here's a card for Thanksgiving/Autumn that I made a few weeks ago....

The leaf stamps are from Heartfelt Creations. I used the baby wipe reinker technique. However, my stamp isn't solid so you can't see the total effect but I can't wait to try it with a solid stamp. The sentiment is Inky Antics. Tree die is Memory Box and I also used Labels Eight Spellbinders die. Added some stickles in a few colors onto the leaves on the tree and distress inked around the edges.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Paper Playtime - Autumn Colors
Challenges 4 Everybody - Anything Goes

Although I may be enjoying the season down here in the South, I hope things are making a turn for the better for all those effected in the Northeast from Hurricane Sandy.

WOYWW #179

Good Morning (at lest here on the East Coast in the US it is). Well, another election season is over and Obama once again is President. I thought it would be a much closer race. Anywhooo....

Today's Wednesday so that means it's time to head over to Ms. Julia's blog over at Stamping Ground to have a bit of a snoop at everyone's desks. Why? Because it's fun and interesting to see what everyone is up to!! But before you do, here's mine.....

So my desk is a total disaster area. I haven't worked on it in about 2 weeks. It still has the mess from the week before and now it has added goodies that I bought over the weekend. On the chair in the bag are some items I bought through Stampin' Up. On the desk I won a 1995 PSX Christmas stamp on ebay. I saw a card online that someone had done in ALL pink using this stamp and loved it. Can't believe I found it and won!!. Some distress inks, a bottle of dylusion ink spray (my first!), more stamps. Plus other purchase. :-) Under my desk are two containers full of scraps. I never through away usable pieces.

Last Saturday I went to a winter copics class at a local stamp store here in Atlanta. Here are the cards we made. Aren't they just too cute. The snowman is popped up on a wobble. I have the cats on order.

I seriously need to sit down this weekend and WORK on some cards!!!! Just too busy this weekend.

Have a great week!!!

Coastal Snowman

It's November 1st already (gosh, where does the time fly!) and time for another Sketch Challenge at Sparkle n Sprinkle Creative Challenges BlogThis is my first month participating as one of the new Design Team members for the sketch challenge. :-) and here is the sketch....

For my card I used the Christmas Flamingo stamp set. The snowman is also available as a single stamp.

I colored the image with watercolor pencils. Also used Florida Beach, Bubblegum, and Starfire glitter. On the clouds I added Twinkling Clouds Sparkle n Soft flocking powder. The green background was created using colored vellum and embossed with snowflakes.

This challenge runs until November 30 at 8:00 pm EST. The prize is a stamp set of your choice. For all the rules and guidelines head over to the SNS challenge blog

WOYWW #178

Good Morning! Well, to most of you it is already well into Wednesday. Quick post here. Not alot of time this morning. I have to make some goodies for work tonight. Last week my schedule was too crazy with little time between shifts. It's been a chilly weekend and into the week with blustery winds because of Sandy and a cold front from up North. My A/C kicked on Friday afternoon and by the end of the weekend I had to turn the heat on.

But here's my desk this week.....

I had pulled out several stamps in hopes of working on them. I did get one card done this weekend with a set from Heartfelt Creations. Bought some other sentiments that are on clearance you see peeking out from the right side. Practiced making some medallions since I never made them before. Still need to get the hang of putting the two sides together nicely. Need to look at some more you tube videos. I'm missing something, just need to go take a quick look when I have time.

This weekend I'll be going to another Copics class to make 3 different Winter cards. Will be fun, can't wait. :-)

So in my haste to get this blog up and out  I totally forgot to mention why I am rambling about my desk....Ms. Julia at Stamping Ground is the wonderful hostess of What's On Your Desk? Wednesday.

Happy WOYWW!!!

Happy Holidays

Gosh, can't believe Christmas is almost around the corner. It's amazing how time flies....

Here's a cute snowman card from Sparkle n Sprinkle....

I created the background by painting acrylic paint over cardstock. You can find directions here. I love the way it turned out.

The snowman was painted with Sparkling H2O's. Some Lemonade and Crystal Ice glitter was added to scarf, hat and around border. Also added Shasta Puff embossing powder along the bottom that puffs when you emboss.

Christmas Fairy

Gosh, no time this weekend for crafting. Only had one day off and have been out most of the day....ok, I DID get some crafting in when I went to my Stampin' Up demonstrator's house and made 3 cards and ordered more goodies. But that doesn't really count since I didn't get to play with my goodies at home.

Here's an adorable little Christmas Fairy. Her name is Chloe the Peppermint Tulle Fairy and designed by Sparkle n Sprinkle.

I used Starfire and Cerise glitter, Peppermint Stick embossing powder by Sparkle n Sprinkle. She was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink, colored with Copics, and than added glitter on her tutu with dimensional glue by SNS.

The patterned paper is MME (Merry) and Celebrate It! ribbon. I used Spellbinders Labels 25 die for the red cardstock and that's where I added the Cerise glitter and Peppermint Stick embossing powder.

Here's a close up where you can see her tutu all sparkly...

Also, a couple weeks ago I participated in the Operation Write Home World Card Making Day blog hop. One of the participants, Pamela's World of Scrap had a Fancy Pants give away to one lucky winner. And that was ME!! :-) I almost missed out since I somehow didn't see her post.

However, today I got a little something in the mail...It's a 48 sheet paper pack "My Family". Thanks Fancy Pants Designs!!! :-)

And even a little further back I left some comments over at craftieodamae's blog for some Heartfelt Creations designs and I also was selected as the winner and received a $25 gift certificate for them. Yay me. So this is what I picked out....(I did spend more so I can get both). I am really wanting to try this stamp and die out...I hope soon!!

Today I'm sharing some cards I made for another new stamp set (or individual stamps) from Sparkle n Sprinkle called Abby & Walter. Very cute girlie birthday stamps!! Here's a look at the whole set...aren't these girls just too cute? And the cupcake is just scrumptious.

Here's my cupcake all pinked out and you can find the instructions here. The cupcake stamp can be purchased individually. The sentiment is from the smaller Cupcake Happiness set.

My next card is Flying Birthday Girl and the instructions can be found here. The sentiment is from the Party Set.

In my third card I used the Flying Birthday Girl and the instructions are found here. I again used a sentiment from the Cupcake Happiness set.

And the last card uses the Abby & Walter stamp and the instructions can be found here. The sentiment is from the Cupcake Happiness set.
