I think this is the quickest card I've produced. Usually it takes me awhile to figure out the paper, embellishments, etc....but this one came together fast! And, I have an extra cutout of the present so will probably make a second card.
The background paper is by The Paper studio and used the "fired brick" Distress Ink on the edges. The paper for the present is by My Mind's Eye.
I used my Nestabilities for the first time!! (I just got them in the mail mid week.) Love them!! The lacey circle is SO cute!!! I used some gold metallic paper I had from Creative Memories and red cardstock, again using the distress ink on the cardstock.
The present is from the Joys of the Season cricut cartridge cut at 2". I used Stampendous "red dragon" embossing powder over the xmas present ribbon and than placed it on the card with pop dots.
Also used some red jute twine and gold garland ribbon for the embellishments.
I'm entering my first blog challenge today at Christmas Crafting! This is Arline's first challenge at her blog, and mine too. Perfect fit! The challenge is to create a Christmas card with at least one flower.
My digi-stamp is called "Winter Fairy" by Wee Stamps. I used my watercolor pencils to color her in and than added some glitter on her fur coat and wings. Also added some "snow" glitter along the ground. On the berries I added some 3D lacquer.
The snowflake pattern paper is by Heidi Grace Designs, the striped paper is some scrap, not sure who it's made by. I used my Creative Memories scallop corner punch on the cardstock.
Sentiment is by Hero Arts.
Flower is by Making Memories.
Also added some blue lacey ribbon and red ribbon. The red glitter dots are by Dress It Up.
What's on Your Workdesk is hosted by Stamping Ground. If you'd like to participate pop on over to her site.
Well, this Wednesday my desk is covered with some cards I've been working on this past week. I managed to get two cards completed and am finishing up a 3rd. (1 Halloween and almost 2 Christmas). I also went on a shopping spree and bought all kinds of goodies. :-)
Today's mail also brought me my new Nestabilities. I bought the lacey and standard circles. More to play with this weekend...
The one Halloween card I finished is still sitting to the left and my unfinished Christmas card is on the left which I managed to finish after taking this picture.
Has anyone played with Nestabilities? Do you like them? Any favorites?
I used the Tattered Angel Shimmer Mist in denim blue and deep plum to create the background. I have a teflon sheet that I sprayed the shimmer mist onto and than let the sheet of paper soak it up. It was a special paper -- some kind of photo paper -- that I bought at the rubber stamp store.
I used white pigment ink to stamp the trees and sentiment (Savvy Stamps and Hero Arts). Than I used the embossing sticky stuff and Stardust glitter over the trees.
Added some silver brads and a ribbon and that's it...
After coming home this afternoon from my shopping spree I made a Halloween card that I saw at the rubber stamp store.
Cute, cute, cute!
I'm not sure what the correct term is but it's a fold out card of sorts.
The clouds are by Memory Box called "puffy clouds". The images are dies that can be used with any die cutting machine I believe. I have a Cuttlebug and had to use some extra cushioning to cut the image. The stamped phrase and the mansion are also by Memory Box. The mansion was stamped twice. First on the background paper, than on a separate sheet of yellow paper and than cut. (The porch and spirals were cut off and only the stamped image from the background appears.)
I added some Spiced Marmalade distress ink around the lettering and the background paper for the mansion. Also used some black ink around the clouds.
And one leftover spider sticker from last year....
Today I drove all the way up to the north side of Atlanta to stop at a couple stamping stores.
Boy, did I find all kinds of goodies. I spent way, way, WAY too much $$.....oh well, it'll be fun to try all my new "toys".
Pretty much all my purchases revolved around Halloween and Christmas. I was looking for a snowman stamp and found a cute one holding Christmas lights and wearing a hat. Should come out really cute. Bought a tree stamp too and saw some great techniques that I can't wait to try!! One of my favorites is a Victorian home that you can buy overlays for. They have different themes like 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas. I love Victorian homes so it'll be fun to color in the house.
Otherwise, bought embellishments like snowflake brads, glitter, embossing powder, etc..
Another thing that caught my eye were Shimmer Sheetz. The sheets were run through a Cuttlebug and had neat designs and looked like metal. Can't wait to try it...and some die cuts by Memory Box. I bought the puffy clouds, bianca snowflake, and have the amira flourish on order.
Of course, when I came home I attempted to make one of the cards I saw at the store...my Haunted Mansion came out pretty darn cute...
I added some glitter to the boiling concoction inside the cauldron and to the "steam" and also to the fire. I used some 3D lacquer on the frogs eyes. I than sprayed some Smooch Spritz Vanilla Shimmer to the whole image.
I attempted my first "stitching" along the circle border. I practiced on my poor sewing machine that hasn't been used in ages. Well, it wasn't perfect....but it's a start. But still cute. :-) I tore the edges of the black background paper with my handy tearing ruler with ragged edges.
Added black glitter tape along the top and bottom of the card, a couple orange buttons, and a bow....Ta-Da!!
I even decorated the inside of a card for the first time...(sorry for the dust..LOL!)
I know July can be referred to as "Christmas in July" and I see alot of bloggers making Christmas cards but I still am figuring out what I will be doing for my cards....
So, instead, I had found a Halloween digi stamp I liked and attempted to use some new watercolor paper to color in my image. I was trying a method I saw on You Tube. But kinda changed it up and did a bit of my own...
The digi stamp is "Itty Bitty Betty - Yummy Frogs" by Pink Cat Studio Digi Stamps. I used my watercolor pencils and a Stampin' Up blender to blend the colors. Added extra fine purple glitter to her dress & brim. Also added some gold glitter that's simmering out of her kettle. On the frog's eyeballs I added 3D lacquer.
I can't find a bat paper punch for anything...I think last year I had the same problem. Even my Cricut cartridge for Halloween doesn't have a bat. So, I kinda cut my own out and than added extra fine glitter onto the bats. Than used pop dots to place them onto the card...
Oh, and the paper is by Paper Studio and Doodlebug Design (glitter paper).
I've been home sick all week so during the times I feel up to it I peruse blogs to see what people are creating...I came across Stamping Ground: What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and thought it was interesting to take a peek at others work areas and decided to join in....
I haven't done anything in over a week. I've been out of town and now staying home from work sick. No energy to do much...
The last thing I was working on was my scrapbook album. I took a trip to Thailand a few years ago and am trying to finish it up. I'm over halfway done..
The page you see me working on is from an elephant camp I went to in Northern Thailand. We got to feed them bananas, see them take a bath, put on a show, and than take a ride. What a fun experience. I even have a elephant painting!
